What is The Google Panda Algorithm?

What’s up Everyone!
I’m Robert O’Haver today we are going to go over what is the Googles Panda Algorithm.
Lots of people ask what the Panda Algorithm and how does it affect my site. Well today I am going to explain how Googles Panda Algorithm works and tips to prevent your site from getting penalized. Also to dispel some of the misconceptions about Panda.
[Intro]

In an effort to clean up Googles search, Google released an Algorithm that was code named Panda. Put in simple terms The Google Panda Algorithm is accentually a filter, and certain elements on your site can trigger the Algorithm to lower or improve your site ranks based on may key factors on your site.
Panda’s goal was to lower the rank of “low-quality sites” or “thin content sites”,[1] in order to return higher-quality search results.
First common misconception is that Panda always effects the entire site. Until recently this was true but in the new release this year Panda looks at a site on a page by page bases and can effect certain parts of a site down to a single page. In extreme cases the entire site.
Misconception #2 is that Panda is a Penalty “I know some of you may feel that way if you site was penalized but, the fact is, it’s not. It is only meant to improve the quality of Googles search results.
One of the things Panda looks for is sites that scrap other sites for content and copies content from other sites. Then google tries to determine which site is the originator of the content and pushing the other site down in the search results.
Other factors that Panda looks at is poorly written content. When I say poorly written content I mean content with lots of misspellings, stuffed with keywords so badly that it doesn’t read correctly, or has allot of repetitive content that makes no sense.
As I mentioned before Panda can affect sections of a site or even a whole site depending on the severity a sites violation. Another thing google looks at is high ad to content ratio if your site is nothing but a link farm of ads your site will be pushed down in the search results and can even be penalized.
Misconception #3 If you did not get a warning from Google that you have a penalty on your site then you must be safe. Only in extreme situations does google penalize a site. Panda can lower your ranking without google imposing a penalty and lower your site ranking in search results.
It’s important that you monitor your rankings on Google using Webmaster tools and Google Analytics it’s important that you’re watching for drops in keyword ranks and page.
Misconception #4 I must be penalized Google Just released a new algorithm and my site traffic has dropped. If an Algorithm refresh or update comes out and your site drops in rank this happens to some sites. All too often I have seen when an algorithm is updated or refreshed some sites will do an extreme rank fluctuations, only to find that in a week or two the rank comes right back up. It is really important that you don’t panic and wait a week or two before doing anything drastic to your site.
Now, if you find your ranks drop from Panda and the don’t come back, here is what you need to do to diagnose a page or site that has lost rank and the questions you need to ask yourself about that page. Now, if your site was penalized. Google will provide you with what changes you need to make to your site to fix the problem.
What can you do to insure your site is loved by Panda?
• Make sure all the content on your site is original (copyscape)
• If you find that you do have duplicate content on your site it is important that you completely change the content to be original. Panda has gotten smarter and just changing a word here and there or a synonym will not work.
• Make sure your content offers value anything that does not remove it.
• Remove content that is, overlapping or redundant on the site.
• Don’t stuff your pages with keywords.
• Use several variations of a Keyword phrase but keep it specific to the product or service offer. Use Long tail keywords.
• Write your content for people visiting your site not search engines.
• It is important your content answers a question or solves a problem write your content so that the person visiting your site can find and navigate to what they are looking for in a clear easy manner.
• Have your content written professionally or by someone with good writing skills
• Try to avoid spelling and grammar mistakes
• Remove or fix pages with very little content that is unsubstantial or otherwise lacking in specifics.
• Make your site more crawlable and easy to navigate.
• A big factor panda looks at in ranking is page load time ideally a page should load in under 3 seconds so make sure all of your images are optimized. Make sure your content is easy to read font size & color are important.
• Avoid over optimization of the site.
